Maritime Affairs

The Navy League of Canada offers several awards to recognize excellence in Canada's marine sector. Any member of the Navy League can nominate an individual or group for these awards.

 Lockheed Martin Centennial Award

In 2010, in recognition of the Canadian Navy's centennial,  Lockheed Martin Canada created an award in recogintion of excellence among Master Seaman and below in the Royal Canadian Navy. There is only 1 recipient every year. 

In addition to the receipient being presented a plaque and having their name engraved on the cup, a $1500 donation is presented to an MFRC of the recipient's choice as well as a $1500 donation to a Navy League Branch of the recipient's choice. This is all accomplished throug the generous participation of Lockheed Martin Canada.

In its inaugural year, the award was presented to Leading Seaman Guillaum Mercier of HMCS Ville de Québec.

The 2011 award recipient was Leading Seman Amy Durrah of HMCS St John's. Below is an image of the award ceremony that recently took place.

Robert I. Hendy Award

The Robert I. Hendy Award is granted by The Navy League of Canada to individuals who have accomplished feats or achievements of national or international significance in the area of maritime affairs.

The J. J. Kinley Award

The J. J. Kinley Award is awarded by the National Board of Directors of The Navy League of Canada to members, employees or units of the Canadian Coast Guard, Department of Fisheries and Oceans or the Canadian Forces who have made remarkable contributions in support of naval and maritime interests, which are in keeping with the highest principles of The Navy League of Canada.

Navy League Prize (Royal Military College)

Each year, the Navy League Prize is presented to the Top Graduating Naval Student from the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario.

 

Navy League Prize (Canadian Coast Guard College)

Each year, the Navy League Prize is presented to the graduating Officer Cadet who has displayed exemplary courtesy and deportment throughout the entire training period, and is entering service within the Canadian Coast Guard.

 

Maritime Affairs Scholarships

The Navy League offers $1500 scholarships to currently serving Sea Cadets entering an accredited post-secondary program with a maritime focus.
